Clunton a village with strong Houseman connections, is just a couple of miles along the B4368 from Clun and right on the cross-roads in the centre is the seventeenth century Crown Inn

Popular with locals, tourists and walkers there are two cosy bar areas with the lounge bar featuring an open fire. There is also a separate non-smoking dining room. Most customers sample the food on offer, with a bar menu in addition to the a la carte selection in the restaurant. The dishes are selected to make the most of seasonally available produce and are freshly prepared to order.

Run by Jack Limond, Sue and Zo Dean, it is Sue who is  chef and supervises the running of the kitchen with Zo managing the bar side.

This is fine walking country and Shropshire County Council has produced two leaflets suggesting a number of walks around Clunton. Varying in length and designed to suit a variety of abilities, copies of the leaflets are available in the pub, and all walks start from the car park opposite.

Roger Seedhouse in his book Walks to Wet Your Whistle details four walks of 11.5, 8.5, 7 or 5.25 miles in section 7. Bury Ditches and Clunton, The Crown, Clunton. His website can be reached here http://www.bestwalks.com/BookWWW.htm
